Have you thought about how you can extend your existing fundraising campaigns to include a push for Giving Tuesday?
Here’s five ways to help your bidders, sponsors and donors support you on Giving Tuesday!
#1. PROMOTE GIVING TUESDAY TO YOUR BIDDERS WHILE YOU HAVE THEIR ATTENTION
If your online auction is currently in progress, you can make mention of #GivingTuesday to your bidders on your auction homepage. While bidders are perusing items and placing bids, you have a great forum to remind them that #GivingTuesday is coming up.
You can include a mention of #GivingTuesday in your auction emails as well. While you encourage bidders to bid more and let them know about new items, you can also ask that they keep you in mind on #GivingTuesday.
#2. BIDDINGFORGOOD’S BIDDER COMMUNITY OPENS UP A NEW DOOR
Keep in mind that your pool of bidders includes members of BiddingForGood’s bidder community who aren’t part of your existing donor base. You have an opportunity to invite them to become supporters of your organization, beyond just your auction, by participating in #GivingTuesday with you.
#3. IS YOUR AUCTION OVER? NO WORRIES!
If your online auction has ended recently, it’s a great time to send out an additional “thank you” email to thank your bidders for their participation. In your email, also ask them to consider giving on #GivingTuesday. Be sure to be specific about how they can give. For example, if you have a page on your site devoted to #GivingTuesday, make sure you include that link in the email.
You may also want to consider asking for a suggested donation amount. We’ve found that they can increase how much people give by 20%. Some supporters may have multiple nonprofits they plan to give to on #GivingTuesday. Your suggested donation amount will make it easy for them to plan to donate to your organization.
#5. REMEMBER YOUR REMINDER EMAIL
Email is a powerful tool! Send a “reminder email” out to your bidders as you get closer to #GivingTuesday. Your request will ring a bell, and they’ll be ready to give. Plan out these strategic communications, just like you planned each stage of your auction.
